There is no one best brand. Pros use Nikons and Canons almost exclusively, but they are also spending thousands of dollars on bodies and lenses. In the amateur market, things are much tighter, and Sony, Fuji, Olympus, etc all make digital cameras that compete with Nikon and Canon.
Buy a one-month on-line subscription to Consumer Reports and read their reviews, then try them out side-by-side at a good camera store (not BestBuy!).
i sell digital camera’s and the best are canon and nikon…. hp is the worst at freezing up, polaroid take bad pics, kodak is cheap with glass lenses,(canon has optical lenses).
Nikon and Canon are the best for digital SLRS. For regular point and shoot cameras they along with Fuji, Panasonic and Sony make fine cameras. It seems though Canon makes a decent camera in just about all price ranges.
There are no best brands, but there are some to stay away from.
Basically any brand that is not listed on dpreview is suspect.
The cameras reviewed on dpreview are from good companies and as you look through them, you will see that there are some that just have more features …at a price.
